The history of the company
AGROTEX was established in 1993. Then, a team of like-minded people rented two big shops in Yakutsk and organized trade, which citizens had not seen before. At the same place people could buy all sorts of goods, starting with different meat products and finishing with fruit and vegetable and household chemical goods. The shops soon became very popular among the citizens of Yakutsk for there was a company which did not raise prices but did take care of their customers; and the company has considered the citizens’ needs since the beginning of its work trying to meet people’s demands.
To reach this aim the company took one of the most important steps in its history – to open its own bakery. Now 40 different kinds of bread are produced, the production comes to 4 tons of bread a day. The use of high-quality ingredients together with highly skilled workers has helped to attain success in bread-making.
The construction, implementation and continued operation of a milk plant in 2001, with the output of 12 tons a day, has become the second important step in the development of the company. Citizens liked milk, yoghurt, kefir, bio-yoghurt, Immunoluct and Bifilux from AGROTEX because of their taste and quality, health benefits and packaging: unbreakable plastic bottles are very convenient for sale in the city and republican markets, for school and student breakfasts. Today the company has launched a line of sour-cream production including traditional Sakha milk products and the production of the existing range of goods in smaller packaging.
A brewery began operation in 2003 with the output of 30 tons a day. Since then AGROTEX and Yakut beer Ellei have been much talked about all over Russia. It is not surprising that the AGROTEX beer has won several awards in different beer contests. In 2003 at The VII International Beer, Beverages and Mineral Water Professional Contest Ellei Lager was awarded a silver medal and The Best Beer of the Year title. The next year the same beer with Ellei Gold won gold medals at the International Exhibition Beer and Beverage Industry, Beer Auction – 2004 in St. Petersburg. Another beer Ellei Classic won a gold medal For the Best Quality at the International Exhibition Beer – 2004 in Sochi.
In 2006 the company opened a confectionary plant which has gained appreciation since the first months of its operation. The range of goods now is up to 35 kinds of pastries and there are yet more to come.
Today the company owns Agrotex, Tuymaada and Zeleny Lug supermarkets and 15 shops in Yakutsk and several branches in different regions of the republic. It also owns Tamerlan Restaurant and one of the most modern and beautiful hotels in Yakutsk – The Sterkh Hotel which is situated in the center of the republic’s capital in the immediate proximity to all the important facilities of the city infrastructure. It is not surprising that it has gained appreciation among the citizens and city guests.
During its work AGROTEX has achieved certain heights in fulfilling not only their own ideas but the Yakutians’ wishes, carrying out the mission of Improving the Quality of Life.
